Cultural competency and Indigenous program evaluations

On Thursday 16 July Sustineo researcher Emily Davidson attended the Australasian Evaluation Society workshop ‘Achieving cultural competency when evaluating Indigenous programs’. The workshop explored a variety of evaluation approaches and methodologies that can be used to ensure cultural competence and appropriateness throughout the development and implementation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander program evaluations.

We firmly believe policy and evaluation work with Indigenous Australian peoples −and in all cross-cultural projects − is not only important, but must also actively embrace cultural competence as an intrinsic base of the team’s values and work practices to be successful. The opportunity to attend this workshop reaffirmed that Sustineo’s established approach remains best practice.
