What drew you to Sustineo?

Having worked with different Sustineo colleagues across different projects, I was always impressed by the quality of their work, flexibility around unexpected changes, and friendly and collaborative attitude. I knew it would be a great place to apply my knowledge and continue growing my skills while staying true to my commitment to genuine partnerships and locally led development.

What do you hope to achieve during your time at Sustineo?

I hope to meet amazing, passionate people across the Indo-Pacific and work together to make positive, lasting change that help communities and individuals adapt to climate change.

What has been your biggest learning experience from your career so far?

From working in the Pacific, I’ve learned the importance of silence and being comfortable with it. It’s an important time to allow reflection and let the sense of community grow.

Tell us something we don’t know about you.

Every month, I write a personal newsletter that I send out to family and friends. Since I try not to use social media, it’s been a great way to keep my loved ones across different time zones updated with my life. I was inspired to start this by other friends, and so I love reading everyone’s newsletters when they come in.

Outside of work, what are you passionate about?

I usually spend my weekends outdoors, either rock climbing or bushwalking, with friends. When I need to recharge my social battery, I love to challenge myself by learning to sew and repair different things. Last month, I made three pairs of pants from scratch!

What was the last book you read?

Embarassingly, I’m in a reading slump and have nothing to share. Instead, may I suggest you have a listen to season 2 of The Retrievals by Serial Productions? In the podcast, Susan Burton investigates why and how thousands of women feel pain during c-sections.
