Over this past weekend, Sustineo’s CEO, Tom Sloan, joined the rest of Team Femili PNG on a cool, crisp Canberra morning to complete a half marathon for the 2021 Canberra Times Marathon Festival. Runners from the frontline reported it was a wonderful event, with a really positive and supportive vibe permeating across all involved.
In some fantastic news the Femili PNG team has raised over AUD37,000! This will make a huge contribution to supporting the work of Femili PNG in preventing gender-based violence in Papua New Guinea, a cause that is close to our hearts at Sustineo. PNG has amongst the highest rates of family and sexual violence (FSV) in the world, and Femili PNG provides critical support to help FSV survivors to access available support services. From recent work that Sustineo has undertaken, we are acutely aware of the importance of what Femili PNG does.
For Tom, this was the second time he has completed the half marathon, having taken part in last year’s ‘COVID-19 style’ virtual event as part Team Femili PNG. See here for a short interview about why Tom chose to run for Femili PNG because of the important work they do in PNG.
Thank you to all those who have donated. This amazing achievement has been thanks to the generosity of many people.
