Sustainable development in practice

Sustineo’s organisational mission is to support positive and sustainable social, economic, and environmental change through our work in Australia, the Pacific, and South-East Asia. While we seek to deliver on this every day through our core research, evaluation, and consulting work, we pride ourselves in going beyond that and contributing to the communities that we are part of.

Last week, our CEO Tom Sloan delivered a lecture and was part of a panel discussion for the Australian National University’s first year geography course. With long term friends of Sustineo, Professor Lorrae van Kerkhoff and Associate Professor Sarah Milne, the panel tackled the topic of sustainability development in practice, including delving into the challenges and trade-offs faced when balancing conservation and growth objectives, inequality, and considerations of power.

We greatly appreciate the close association we hold across the university sector in Australia and the region and are proud that we contribute to academic discourse in the areas that we work.

Thanks to Dr Beck Pearse and Professor Jamie Pittock for having us along.
