Recognising National Reconciliation Week 2020

At Sustineo, we see National Reconciliation Week as an important opportunity to bring together Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians to celebrate what has been achieved in the pursuit of reconciliation, but also recognise what still remains to be done. As reflected by the 2020 National Reconciliation Week theme, we are “In this Together”.

Reconciliation is an on-going process and in Australia there is still a long way to go. While the recent destruction of the 46,000-year-old Juukan Gorge Rockshelters – ancestral site of the Puutu Kunti Kurrama traditional owners in the Pilbara region – provides a stark reminder of this, there is a lot that individuals, organisations and governments alike can (and need) to do.

National Reconciliation Week reminds us to acknowledge this, but also serves to encourage learning for all Australians about the histories, cultures, stories and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders.

At Sustineo, we are proud to have always been champions of diversity, respect, and cultural understanding. Join us in reflecting on and embracing reconciliation and all it can mean.
