The challenge

Sustineo evaluated Diabetes Australia’s National Development Programme (NDP). The NDP consists of nine programs that are designed to support people with diabetes and registrants of the National Diabetes Services Scheme (NDSS) to self-manage their condition.

Our approach

Our team conducted a strategic level evaluation that involved a mixed methods approach including desktop review, data analysis and stakeholder consultation with staff from the nine NDPs including the NDP leaders group, Department of Health representatives, relevant staff from Diabetes Australia (DA) and the Chair of its Medical, Evaluation and Scientific Advisory Committee.

Outcome

The Sustineo team produced a final evaluation report that outlined results and recommendations to improve DA’s management of the NDP, which included the use of a program logic, results framework and monitoring and evaluation plan, as well as advice on the future structure and operation of development activities under the new NDSS Agreement.
